Two sizes, one decision
Our large roll-off containers, the 30 yard and the 40 yard, usually share a similar length of around 22 feet and a width of about 8 feet. The difference is wall height: the 30 yard commonly stands around 6 feet tall, while the 40 yard is closer to 8 feet. Those extra two feet add ten cubic yards of capacity.
Large dumpster rental in Thompson, ND is about matching that capacity to your project. Too little and you pay for another haul. Too much and you pay for space, and you also deal with taller walls that are harder to load by hand.
When to choose 30 yards
The 30 yard container suits whole-house cleanouts, estate clearing, multi-room renovations, and residential additions. It holds a household's worth of furniture and household goods in many cases, and its lower walls are easier for homeowners and small crews to work with. It also fits a wider range of residential driveways than the 40 yard.
Projects that call for a large dumpster
- Whole-home and estate cleanouts
- Commercial interior strip-outs
- Warehouse and retail purges
- Home additions and major renovations
- Large framing and finish phases
When to choose 40 yards
The 40 yard container is best for very high-volume, lighter debris: commercial interior demolition, warehouse and retail cleanouts, large construction phases, and projects where crews load with chutes or equipment. Because it is tall, it is most practical on commercial lots, construction pads, and long, open driveways with generous overhead clearance.
Neither large size is meant for heavy materials in bulk. Concrete, brick, soil, and similar debris can exceed safe transport weight long before these containers look full, so we recommend a smaller container for those materials.
Planning the site
Large containers need a long, straight, firm approach and plenty of overhead room. Check for trees, wires, and building overhangs. On longer projects, a scheduled swap can be more practical than a second container sitting on site. We review these details with you before delivery.
